A question we regularly get asked is how does a business go about improving its business security?
Unfortunately there is no simple, quick fix or answer these days.
Please don’t let me scare you or put you off potentially improving your business security though, my point here is that perhaps its just a complicated issue these days with many things and areas to consider.
I would first ask yourself why you want to improve your business security? Have you had issues with break ins, thefts, cyber attacks etc? Are you under pressure from suppliers, customers, insurance brokers to make drastic changes? What ever your reasoning, there is a security solution out there for you rest assured.
A few examples for instance:
– Are you involved in the International Supply Chain for instance? Then perhaps you should consider going for an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status to address the security issues associated with the import & export of goods.
– Perhaps you are just a regular business and would like to tighten up on how information is secured within your business? Then ISO 27001 (Information Security Management) could be for you.
– Or maybe you would like to just improve your physical and cyber security for your business without the hassle of accreditations, authorisations etc? If so, then a full site audit with a comprehensive Risk and Threat assessment can be drafted to help you plug any obvious physical security gaps and a cyber penetration test completed on your IT systems to identify any weaknesses in your IT security.
Hopefully as you can tell from the above, there is a solution out there for every business in which to improve their business security. The first step as always, is wanting to do something about it-do you?
