What we offer
Complete Project Management – Our project management consultancy services involve providing expert guidance, oversight, and support throughout the lifecycle of a project to ensure it meets its goals in terms of time, cost, scope, and quality. Typically included in our project management consultancy services are an on-site GAP Analysis, drafting all application forms & documented procedures required by HMRC, assistance in signing up to software required by HMRC, help with financial guarantees & duty deferment accounts (where required), training, audit preparation and being in attendance for HMRC Customs Warehouse audits.
Ad-hoc Customs Warehouse Consultancy – We also offer an ad-hoc (short-term consulting) service where required or for those not needing complete project management. This service is provided on an as-needed basis, rather than as part of a long-term or ongoing engagement. We offer a range of Customs Warehouse ad-hoc consultancy services from assisting with ongoing applications, to help and advice about HMRC criteria, provision of Customs Warehouse templates to ISO 9001 standard, on-site GAP analysis and more.
Customs Compliance Consultancy & Auditing – Ongoing assistance with your Customs Warehouse obligations set out by HMRC once approved. Regular audits to ensure you are abiding by the rules & requirements set out in your Customs Warehouse authorisation(s). Annual reviews of your company information, documented procedures, customs processes, security & more.
Training – We currently offer onsite & remote training. We can provide training in customs processes, internal audits, health & safety, security, record keeping and more.
The benefits of applying for a Customs (bonded) Warehouse
1. Deferral of Duty & VAT Liability → Improved Cash Flow
– You do not have to pay customs duty and import VAT on goods when they enter the warehouse; you only pay when those goods are removed for release into free circulation.
– This delay helps businesses manage cash more efficiently, especially with high‑value imports or seasonal stock where goods may sit for some time.
2. Duty Savings for Re‑Exports
– If goods are imported and then re‑exported from the customs warehouse without ever entering free circulation, you do not pay duty or VAT. That can eliminate those costs entirely for goods destined to leave the UK.
3. Flexibility Around Storage & Timing
– You can store goods indefinitely (or until business‐need or documentation becomes available) under customs control, without obligation to immediately clear them.
– You can wait for better market conditions, demand increases, or coordinate documentation/licenses that might not be available at the point of import.
4. Handling Licensing / Documentation Delays
– If required licences or import documentation aren’t ready at the time of import, goods can be warehoused under customs control while you secure what is needed. This avoids costly holds at ports or demurrage.
5. Supply Chain & Operational Efficiency
– Greater control over where and when goods are released into the UK market. This helps in planning distribution, managing seasonal peaks, and reducing urgency costs.
– Consolidation of stock: fewer “just in case” imports, avoiding duplicate charges.
6. Avoiding Double Duties / Unnecessary Charges
– If goods may be re‑exported (or sent abroad) you can avoid the cost of “entering free circulation” duties in the UK if you just store, process or re‑export from the warehouse.
7. Regulated & Secure Environment
– HMRC authorisation gives oversight, meaning there are compliance expectations (record keeping, security, stock controls), which can reduce risk of non‑compliance penalties.
8. Potential Competitive Advantage
– Flexibility to respond to demand spikes earlier (because you can import ahead of time and not be tied to paying charges up front) can give you an edge.
– Being able to offer faster turnaround / better pricing by optimising duty/VAT timing, especially in import‑intensive or global supply chains.
