Are you currently concerned about your mental health? Are you just looking for a little bit of help right now?
Mental health is so important & there are a great many things that can stress a person out or get them down in this day & age.
With many being forced to work from home, away from safe circles, friends and routines we have decided to put together the below tips for those working at home to help you with your mental well being and hopefully keep a smile on your face.
So our top tips include:
- Ensure that you take regular breaks – 15 minutes every 2 hours if you can.
- Speak to people (Telephone, Skype, Messenger, Email etc) – it’s important to still have social interaction, as humans are very social creatures.
- Have a break from social media – we are all a little guilty of being on social media a little too much. Put down the mobile for a little while and avoid those apps. You will feel better for a break, trust us!
- Listen to some music or the radio – it’s proven that music boosts moral, so switch on the radio or Spotify whilst you do you work.
- Get some fresh air – throw up open those windows and doors if you can. Have a break in the garden. Fresh air is key to keeping a mind active & fresh.
- Vary the activities you do (where possible) – keep each day different so the days do not become monotonous and boring.
- Drink plenty of water – keep hydrated.
- Lay off the coffee – caffeine can affect your mood & you can suffer dips in energy. Consider changing to a caffeine free alternative to level out your energy levels and affect any possible mood swings.
- Exercise – it’s important to keep active & exercise to release those good endorphins which again will make you feel better. Find some time in the course of the day to do some exercise-smash out some burpees or jump on the Nintendo Wii, one thing is for sure. You will feel better for it.
- Meditation – a clear mind can be a wonderful thing. Step away from the computer, put down the mobile phone & try a little meditation on one of your breaks. Not only does it help to calm the mind but it might even provide a little clarity on the next task at hand.
- Sunshine (weather permitting in the UK) – get your vitamin D fix. It scientifically proved that Vitamin D is key to keeping you fit & healthy so get out in the garden and enjoy some sunshine where you can.
We hope that the above tips are helpful in this difficult time and we will be following our own advice to keep our mental health at its optimum. We hope that you do as well.
