The government is urging businesses to sign up to new Northern Ireland Trader Support Service with fewer than 100 days until end of Transition period. The Northern Ireland Protocol comes into force on 1st January 2021.

The government has today (7th October 2020) set out further details around how it will create a number of new innovative Freeports across the UK to create jobs, drive investment and regenerate communities.

The UK will leave the EU’s Single Market and Customs Union when the transition period ends. From 1 January 2021, the UK will operate a full, external border with the EU.

The UK has unveiled its new post-Brexit global tariff regime to replace the European Union’s external tariff that comes to an end on 1st January 2021. On the UK’s new tariff regime, international trade secretary Liz Truss said the following:

This has the potential to effect companies that have authorisations such as inward processing, outward processing, temporary admission, authorised use (also known as end use), customs warehousing & CFSP.
